A different way of thinking about therapy.

The explanations we’ve come to accept about ourselves can shape what we believe is possible. Some are useful. Others leave important parts of our lives out.

My work is influenced by narrative therapy. In ordinary terms, that means looking carefully at how you’ve made sense of your experiences, what those explanations allow you to see, and what else may deserve attention.

Your life is more than a problem to solve.

A diagnosis or a list of symptoms can’t tell the whole story of your life. Your relationships, circumstances, values, and choices all matter. We can take a problem seriously while looking beyond it: how it gained a place in your life, what it has affected, and the experiences that don’t fit its account of who you are.

Relationships matter.

Our lives are shaped by partners, families, friends, communities, and the wider world. We may explore how relationships have affected you and how your choices have affected others. Considering another person’s experience can bring something new into view. It can also clarify a boundary, an obligation, or a question you need to think through.

Change is something we live.

Understanding can make a difference. What happens afterward deserves attention, too. It might be a conversation you approach differently, a boundary you respect, or a responsibility you accept. We can consider how these choices connect with what matters to you, and what makes them difficult to carry into everyday life.
